Tyrus Raymond "Ty" Cobb (December 18, 1886 – July 17, 1961), nicknamed "The Georgia Peach," was a baseball player and is regarded by historians and journalists as the best player of the dead-ball era and as one of the greatest players of all time. Cobb also received the most votes of any player on the 1936 inaugural Hall of Fame Ballot. receiving 222 out of a possible 226 votes.

Cobb is widely credited with setting 90 Baseball records during his career. He still holds several records as of 2008, including the highest career batting average (.367) and most career batting titles with 12 (or 11, depending on source). He retained many other records for almost a half century or more, including most career hits until 1985 (4,191 or 4,189, depending on source), most career runs (2,245 or 2,246 depending on source) until 2001,most career games played (3,035) and at bats (11,429 or 11,434 depending on source) until 1974, and the modern record for most career stolen bases (892) until 1977.

About The Card:
Ty Cobb’s legacy also includes legions of collectors of his early tobacco card issues as well as game used memorabilia and autographs. Perhaps the most curious item remains the 1909 Ty Cobb with Ty Cobb Cigarettes pack, leaving some to believe Cobb either had or attempted to have his own brand of cigarettes. Very little about the card is known other than its similarity to the 1909 T206 Red Portrait card published by the American Tobacco Company, and until 2005 only a handful were known to exist. That year, a sizable cache of the cards was brought to auction by the family of a Royston, Georgia man who had stored them in a book for almost 100 years.

The Flying Dutchmen:
Johannes Peter "Honus" Wagner (February 24, 1874 – December 6, 1955 ), nicknamed "The Flying Dutchman" due to his superb speed and German heritage, was an American Baseball shortstop who played from 1897 to 1917.

In 1936, the Baseball Hall of Fame inducted Wagner as one of the first five members, receiving the second-highest vote total behind Ty Cobb and tied with Babe Ruth. Although Cobb is frequently cited as the greatest player of the dead-ball era, some contemporaries regarded Wagner as the better all-around player, and most baseball historians consider Wagner to be the greatest shortstop ever. Cobb himself called Wagner "maybe the greatest star ever to take the diamond."

About The Famous Baseball Card:
The T206 Honus Wagner baseball card is the rarest baseball card in the world, depicting Honus Wagner. The card was designed and issued by the American Tobacco Company (ATC) from 1909 to 1911 as part of its T206 series. Wagner refused to allow production of his baseball card to continue, either because he did not want children to buy cigarette packs to get his card, or because he wanted more compensation from the ATC. The ATC ended production of the Wagner card and a total of only 50 to 200 cards were ever distributed to the public. In 1933, the card was first listed at a price value of US$50 in Jefferson Burdick’s The American Card Catalog, making it the most expensive baseball card in the world at the time.

FANCIFUL BEAR STORIES
FOR LITTLE KIDS
(BEDTIME STORIES)

AND

FACTUAL BEAR STORIES
FOR BIG KIDS
(CAMPFIRE STORIES)

Two things are sure about bear stories.
I will proceed.
-First, kids love ’em.
-Second, each one begins with –
“Once upon a time…”

Book Also Includes US Consitution

About Bear Stories:
The author is my husband of 53 years and father to our nine sons and four daughters. He was raised on a cattle and sheep ranch in the beautiful Star Valley of Wyoming. He was a U.S. Marine, two
years (1947–1949) in Tsingtao, China, during our letter-writing courtship. When he returned home, we married, and he obtained a B.S. and M.S., and went on to teach high school students for ten
years.

During the time our children were growing up he made up imaginary bear stories to tell them at bedtime. I felt that they were good enough that others would enjoy them also.

He was a Management Analyst for the Air Force and became an author upon retiring. I prevailed upon him to include these bear stories among the ten books he is publishing. I invite you to enjoy these stories as our family has.

Sincerely,

Wilma Browning Lichfield
